Assessing self-harm and planning support

harmLESS provides a series of questions you can ask the young person to assess their self-harm.

How they answer these questions will inform a plan about the type of support they might require.

Remember that harmLESS is a guide. If you are still unsure or worried about a young person then phone your local CAMHS team.

Sometimes a young person may talk to you about their self-harm but ask you not to tell anyone else. DO NOT promise to keep this a secret. You need to decide who needs to know in order to keep that young person safe.
